Event Overview
Curious about adding AI chatbots to your teaching toolkit—but not sure where to start? In this interactive session, we’ll explore how Babson College approaches the design, creation, and governance of AI-powered chatbots using Microsoft Copilot Studio.
Participants will learn how we evaluate whether a chatbot is the right solution for a student-facing need, how we assess and curate data sources, and what considerations—such as data quality, privacy, and usage rights—must be addressed before building. Together, we’ll select one of two real-world teaching scenarios and walk through the rapid creation of a working chatbot prototype, demonstrating just how quickly an AI chatbot can come to life once the groundwork is in place.
Attendees will leave with a practical framework they can adapt for their own institutions and classrooms.
Note: Participants may sign up for a Copilot Studio trial via Microsoft if they do not already have access.
Session Outcomes:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Differentiate between traditional rule-based chatbots and AI-powered chatbots, and explain how Copilot Studio supports generative AI use cases in teaching and learning.
- Identify effective classroom and student-support scenarios where an AI chatbot adds real value—and recognize when it may not be the right solution.
- Evaluate and curate content for chatbot knowledge sources, including assessing data quality, usage rights, and potential risks.
