Creating a World-Class Collaborative Environment on Your Campus

Speaker: Linda Beith

Dr. Linda Beith is the Director of Instructional Design (ID) at Roger Williams University. The ID team provides faculty and student development and support for all instructional technologies at the University as well as instructional design services and consultation for faculty. Linda has spent over 20 years involved with teaching and learning in higher education, specifically in the areas of instructional technology and adult learning. She has been an adjunct faculty member for the University of Massachusetts at Boston graduate program in instructional design since 2001, teaching fully online since 2005.

Linda received her BA in Psychology from Bridgewater State University, MEd in instructional design from UMass Boston and a PhD in instructional design from Capella University in Minnesota. Her doctoral dissertation was on hybrid faculty learning communities and her interests include instructional design, emerging technologies, informal learning, distance and blended education, interactive learning strategies, and e-portfolios.


Speaker: Karen Jones

Karen Jones is the Director of Media Services at Roger Williams University. The Media Services Department is responsive to faculty, staff, and students through the design and management of presentation environments, student and faculty hardware checkout services, video production and on-demand classroom and event support. She has over 15 years in the educational technology field and has been with RWU since 2000. Karen received her BA in Sociology from the University of Rhode Island and an MA in Teaching from Roger Williams.


Speaker: Phillip Knutel

Dr. Phillip Knutel is Executive Director of Academic Technology, the Library, and Online Learning and Assistant Professor of Information Design and Corporate Communication at Bentley University. He provides strategic direction regarding the use of information technology to further academic initiatives, and strives to create a culture of constant innovation. He oversees 36 staff, including those in academic technology, the library, media services, and academic administrative computing. Prior to joining Bentley in 1998, he received his Ph.D. in higher education from the University of Michigan, where he also served as Director of Academic Technology at the University of Michigan’s Academic Outreach Program. He holds an Ed.M. from Harvard, and a B.S. magna cum laude from Vanderbilt, where he also served as president of his college student association. 


Speaker: Philip Lombardi

Philip Lombardi is the director of Academic Computing & Media Services for Bryant University. His area of focus is strategic planning and support for all campus computing and media technologies associated with teaching and learning. Responsibilities include oversight of campus Media Services, Classrooms/Labs, a 3,200+ Student Laptop Program, Communication Complex (HD TV Studio/Radio Station) and campus Financial Market Center.
 

Speaker: Patrick Rashleigh

Patrick Rashleigh is the Data Visualization Coordinator at the Brown University Library, and oversees the Digital Scholarship Lab, the library's newest collaborative teaching and research space. Prior to Brown, he was a technology liaison at Wheaton College in Massachusetts, working with faculty to introduce technology innovation in teaching and research. Prior to Wheaton, he was the New Media Coordinator at the Attorney General of Ontario.
