Creating Interactive Course Content: The MediaKron Project at Boston College

Speaker: Anastacia Pathiakis

Anastacia is responsible for managing The MediaKron Project (TMKP) at Boston College, a pilot project funded by the Davis Educational Foundation, which will bring the MediaKron application to five colleges and universities in the New England area, while enhancing its usage at Boston College.

During this 2 year pilot project, she is responsible for supporting the TMKP partners in the development of two course projects each using MediaKron, while also fostering and supporting the broader MediaKron learning community. She coordinates partner engagement, communication and participation through regular community building events, virtual meetings, and an online blog community.

Anastacia holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Rochester and an MA in Child Study from Tufts University and has 12 years of experience in the planning, design, and production of museum-based educational interactives and multimedia learning environments for local, national, and international museums, including Boston Children’s Museum, the National Park Service, and the Youth Museums Exhibit Collaborative. She has served on Boston Children’s Museum’s Technology Task Force, and is interested in the advancement of educational technologies in teaching and learning.


Speaker: Jaye Schneider

Jaye Schneider manages the technical components of The MediaKron Project (TMKP) at Boston College, with the goal of ensuring a high-quality experience for every user. Her responsibilities include development team coordination, partner-user authentication, software requirements and design, quality assurance management, and technical support.

Since the pilot project, funded by the Davis Educational Foundation, began, Jaye has been the primary technical resource. She has a wide-breadth of knowledge regarding the project process, the software and the users. Jaye presents TMKP demonstrations and training sessions frequently and recently presented at Boston College’s 2012 eTeaching Day.

Jaye received a BBA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and an MBA from Babson College. In her 14 years as a software professional, Jaye has consulted for federal government clients, led large-scale QA initiatives at Fidelity Investments, and managed website testing initiatives for several small companies.
