Credit Hour Analysis: Breaking it all down
Speaker: Jessica Egan
Jessica has worked in the intersection of teaching and technology for over seven years. With two degrees heavily focused on curriculum and instruction from Florida State University, she began her career as an ESL instructor and was quickly drawn to data-driven course design and ways instructional technology can enhance teaching and learning. She currently teaches college-level English composition courses, holds a project manager role with a small publishing company, and works full-time as a Senior Course Builder with The American Women's College at Bay Path University. Her primary focus with Bay Path includes instructional design and creating courses for an adaptive learning platform.
Speaker: Sara Milillo
Sara completed her bachelor's degree from Penn State University in Biotechnology with a minor in Microbiology. Working in a research lab studying Genetically Modified cacao (chocolate) trees as an undergraduate sparked her love of Food Science. Following her B.S. degree, she went on to graduate school at Cornell University and earned her Ph.D. in Food Microbiology with emphases in Food Safety and Education. Her doctoral research was focused on understanding how different strains of the foodborne pathogen Listeria monocytogenes attach to various surfaces (plant and animal) and the pathogen’s gene expression patterns. After graduating from Cornell, Sara was awarded a USDA post-doctoral research fellowship to study Salmonella in poultry. While she was working as a research scientist at the University of Arkansas on this project, she also taught night classes at a local community college. Fast forward a few years, Sara was most recently a faculty member at Penn State before joining the team at Bay Path and The American Women's College. Now, as the Director of Math and Science, Sara loves promoting post-secondary math and science education for adult women!
