Event Overview
DevOps, one of the recent trends in IT, merges the development and operations responsibilities to create a collaborative, shared responsibility for application and service delivery. DevOps is connected with a lot of other specific technologies and buzzwords like Docker containers, pipelines, Kubernetes, test automation, Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Jenkins, Salt, continuous integration, continuous delivery, microservices, and many more. The adoption of DevOps in higher ed has lagged its implementation in commercial IT organizations. This workshop will cover the basics of DevOps practices, discuss why it is relevant to schools and colleges, and will look at real-world examples from higher educational institutions. Learn how schools are getting benefits from taking what started with the tech startups and web-scale giants to make it their own.
Session Outcomes:
- Understand the core practices and benefits of DevOps
- See examples of how specific DevOps-related technologies work and create positive improvements
- Learn how to ask the right questions at your school to see how DevOps practices and solutions can work for you
