Speaker: Steve Bischof

Steve Bischof has been the Integrated Library Systems Coordinator for the Five Colleges in Western Massachusetts since 2010. He is responsible for coordinating the administration and management of the consortial ILS system, ALEPH and the integration/interaction of other systems from across the Five Colleges with the ILS. Previously Steve worked as the System/Discovery Librarian and Science Librarian at Wesleyan University in Middletown CT. He holds a BS in Environmental Geology from Michigan State University and a MILS from the University of Michigan. 


Speaker: Marshall Breeding

Marshall Breeding is an independent consultant, speaker, and author. He is the creator and editor of Library Technology Guides and the lib-web-cats online directory of libraries on the Web. His monthly column Systems Librarian appears in Computers in Libraries; he is the Editor for Smart Libraries Newsletter published by the American Library Association, and has authored the annual Automation Marketplace feature published by Library Journal since 2002. He has authored nine issues of ALA’s Library Technology Reports, and has written many other articles and book chapters. Marshall has edited or authored seven books, including Cloud Computing for Libraries published by in 2012 by Neal-Schuman, now part of ALA TechSource. He regularly teaches workshops and gives presentations at library conferences on a wide range of topics.

He is a regular presenter at library conferences including Computers in Libraries and Internet Librarian conferences, has been a LITA Top Technology Trends panelist at ALA conferences has been an invited speaker for many library conferences and workshops throughout the United States and internationally. He has spoken in throughout the United States and in Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, China, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, The Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Spain, the United Kingdom, Israel, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, and Argentina.

Marshall Breeding held a variety of positions for the Vanderbilt University Libraries in Nashville, TN from 1985 through May 2012, including as Director for Innovative Technologies and Research as the Executive Director the Vanderbilt Television News Archive.

Breeding was the 2010 recipient of the LITA LITA/Library Hi Tech Award for Outstanding Communication for Continuing Education in Library and Information Science.


Speaker: Pete Coco

Pete Coco is the Digital Learning Strategist and Technology Liaison for the humanities at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts and an editor at WeaveUX, the new open access journal of library user experience. 
 

Speaker: Janet Ewing

Janet Ewing has worked at Mount Holyoke College’s merged Library, Information & Technology Services (LITS) since 1994, first as Reference Librarian and more recently adding Integrated Technologies Librarian to her title. In addition to the traditional user-oriented reference and instruction roles, and serving as liaison to faculty, her position also incorporates support for instructional technology as well as spear-heading efforts to keep various online resources and services playing well together and running smoothly for patrons. She has served on several Five College committees, including the Discovery Service Task Force. Prior to working at Mount Holyoke, Janet was Associate Librarian at the National Research Council/National Academy of Sciences in Washington, DC. She has a BA from Bucknell University and an MLS from the University of Maryland at College Park. Janet led Mount Holyoke’s efforts to bring a web-scale discovery tool to the Five Colleges.
 

Speaker: Steven Folsom

Steven Folsom is a metadata librarian overseeing the creation and management of metadata for various Cornell University Library digital platforms, and strategizes on the integration of metadata across systems.
 

Speaker: Ridie Wilson Ghezzi

Ridie Wilson Ghezzi is Head of Research & Instruction Services and currently acting Head of Access Services in Baker-Berry Library at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. Ridie holds an M.S in Information Science from Drexel University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Folklore and Folklife from the University of Pennsylvania. She oversees a department of ten librarian liaisons who teach and support the research and curricular needs in the Humanities and Social Sciences.


Speaker: John Holm

John Holm is the Electronic Resources Librarian at Norwich University, a private military college in Northfield, Vermont enrolling approximately 2300 cadets and civilian undergraduate students, along with about 1200 online graduate students. In addition to overseeing the library’s collection of electronic resources, John is a member of the library’s reference and instruction team and serves as Liaison to the English & Communications and Modern Languages departments. A 2009 graduate of the School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, John worked as a Technical Support Specialist at JSTOR User Services in Ann Arbor, Michigan before coming to Norwich in 2011. In his spare time he enjoys hiking and cycling the scenic back roads of the Green Mountain State.
 

Speaker: Maureen Morris

Maureen Morris is a reference and instruction librarian and co-chairs the Cornell University Library's discovery and access implementation team, focusing on the user experience aspects of the work.


Speaker: Barbara Polowy

Barbara Polowy has been the Head of the Hillyer Art Library at Smith College since 1996. As a member of the Smith College Libraries Teaching, Learning, and Research Group she is the liaison for instruction, research, and collection development to the art, landscape studies, and archaeology departments. Barbara serves on Smith’s Digital Services Team and Web Redesign Steering Group where her duties include usability testing of the libraries’ website. As Smith’s representative to the Five Colleges Research, Instruction and Outreach Committee and the Discovery Service Task Force she has also worked with colleagues on configuration and usability testing of the shared discovery service. Barbara was the Art and Photography Librarian at Rochester Institute of Technology prior to her tenure at Smith. She holds an AB from Clark University, an MLS from Syracuse University, and did graduate work in art history at Vanderbilt University.
