Event Overview
This webinar is a crash course in essential principles and skills for a successful negotiation. Whether negotiating your salary with an employer, a new contract with a vendor, or a new procedure with coworkers, negotiation skills are vital in all business or academic setting.

First, we’ll introduce various conceptual frameworks for negotiation – ultimately adopting the win-win framework championed by Roger Fisher and William Ury, Lawrence Susskind, and other business management experts. Once understood, we’ll complicate this approach by looking at how cultural differences, race, gender, and other factors can impact negotiations.

Finally, we’ll share techniques for negotiating and managing relationships, drawing on real-world examples from the library, information technology, and other higher education sectors.

If you are a purchasing specialist, administrator, librarian, or job seeker, you should join us for this webinar. Ultimately, anyone who negotiates—and we all do—will gain actionable knowledge by attending!

Session Outcomes:
Participants will:
  - Learn concept-based frameworks for negotiation.
  - Understand the nuances of negotiation in a variety of scenarios.
  - Apply techniques for negotiation successfully in a higher education setting.
