The day is designed around 3 sessions. During each session, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the topic through sharing of ideas, mini-presentations, small group discussion, hands-on technology exploration, and/or guided learning activities.

9:30am - 10:45am Different (Key) Strokes for Different Folks: Designing for Choice in an Online Course

In this session, participants will explore and brainstorm ways to expand choice in online courses to empower students to pursue content and work that is meaningful and engaging to them.


10:45am – 12:00pm “Insert” Self Here: Fostering Presence and Community in Online Courses
In this session, participants will consider the different ways that faculty can engage in and add personal elements to the course through the use of current technology as well as best practices for fostering community in an online course.

12:00pm – 1:00pm Lunch


1:00pm – 2:30pm “Shift”ing Content: Upcycling Content and Open Educational Resource

In this session, participants will review paths for improving already existing content or using and remixing content that is already available in the form of open educational resources.


2:30pm – 3:00pm Wrap Up and End
