Event Overview
Higher education institutions all share many of the same tools and spaces for instructing their students, from active learning classrooms to modern Learning Management Systems to high-tech labs and classrooms that aim to stimulate innovation and creativity. But how does your school differentiate itself from all of its peers, who have built similar facilities and licensed the same software? In this workshop, faculty, IT staff, and learning experts will present a range of specific examples that illustrate how students have been more deeply engaged by approaches, practices, and systems that might not strike everyone as “educational.” From the creativity that can make a K-6 mobile app meet the learning goals of a graduate class, to the vision that can lead a corporate communication tool to transform online learning, many of our schools are experimenting - and succeeding - in applying out-of-the-box thinking and imaginative problem solving to re-conceive established methods of teaching and assessment.

Session Outcomes:
- How can I inspire my institution's faculty to take a chance on incorporating new tools/methods in their teaching?
- How do I successfully introduce and integrate new teaching practices and tools at my institution?
- How do you sell and support scaleable innovation in an academic setting?
