Speaker: Ellen Foust

Ellen Foust. M.Ed. is an Instructional Designer at UMass Boston. She has extensive experience with both synchronous and asynchronous voice software tools and pedagogy. As a VoiceThread consultant and trainer, she works with faculty to determine how this exciting Web 2.0


Speaker: Luis Poza Garcia

Luis is working as a graduate assistant with the instructional design team at UMass Boston while he completes his Masters in Instructional Design. He brings from Europe several years of experience in educational technology, including King’s College, London and Westminster College, London.


Speaker: Andrew Hinote

Andrew Hinote is the Instructional Technology Support Specialist in CITS Instructional Development at UMass Dartmouth. He supports faculty in the development of online and blended courses as well as the innovative use of technologies that support teaching and learning. He is also the resident expert and administrator of the campus learning management system. Andrew is currently pursuing a Master of Education degree in Instructional Design at UMass Boston.


Speaker: Mike Lucas

Mike Lucas, Sr. Director of IT Services, is a member of the UMASS Lowell IT Leadership team and manages the administration of all classroom and conference room presentation technology for UMass Lowell including oversight of the lecture capture platform, videoconferencing and live event video streaming. He also supervises the IT Service Desk operation, which provides desktop and configuration support for faculty, staff and students. As a member of the UMass Lowell Academic Technology Committee, he is involved with assessing and implementing emerging academic technologies and helps to develop training and outreach on campus.

Mike has over 20 years of experience delivering classroom and instructional technology services in a higher education setting. He has a BA in Communications from Fitchburg State College and a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from UMass Lowell.


Speaker: John Mazzarella

John Mazzarella is the Manager of Training, Communications, and Marketing for the IT Department at UMass Boston. There he ran Camtasia Relay screencast service since 2009, and has been participating in planning the campus's migration from Camtasia to Echo360 Personal Capture.


Speaker: Michelle McIntyre

Mish McIntyre is a working Boston artist, educator, and instructional designer. Her work continues to evolve in the application of games and game-based education to the classroom as well as online courses. Mish is also involved in the application of Flipped Classroom pedagogy for blended learning environments. Mish is co-teaching at Suffolk University a flipped course in creative thinking for business students using MinecraftEdu.

Mish McIntyre received her MFA from Massachusetts College of Art & Design and her M.Ed from Suffolk University. Mish currently is the Foundation Studies Program Coordinator at the New England School of Art & Design (NESAD) at Suffolk University. In addition, she is an Instructional Design Assistant for Instructional Services at UMASS Boston.


Speaker: Thomas Mennella

Tom Mennella (MEN-NEL-AH) is an Associate Professor of Biology at Bay Path University in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. He has been teaching in higher education for over eight years, is an early adopter of technology in the classroom, an outspoken advocate for the flipped learning format, and the proud father of two beautiful, though, bratty little girls.


Speaker: Rachel Rebello

Rachel Rebello is an Instructional Designer, ePortfolio Specialist in CITS Instructional Development at UMass Dartmouth. She is currently pursuing a Master of Education degree in Instructional Design at UMass Boston. Rachel’s past experience includes seven years of teaching in higher education and was instrumental in developing both a blended and fully online health science degree program. She currently provides course design consultations and support to faculty venturing into online, blended, and other flexible modes of teaching and learning.


Speaker: Randal Tyndall

Randy Tyndall, Instructional Technologist, works in the Instructional Services division of UMASS Lowell IT Department. He currently administers the Echo360 lecture capture application and also develops and trains faculty on best practices for the system. He also works on desktop videoconferencing implementation and support for both administration and faculty at UML. He works as a part of a team of folks who oversee the technology in classrooms and other technology areas at UML.

He has over 30 years of experience in multimedia production and technology support. He has a BS and MS in Communications from Georgia State University.


Speaker: Irene Yukhananov

Irene Yukhananov is a Senior Instructional Designer at the UMass Boston College of Advancing and Professional Studies (CAPS). Wearing many hats, Irene also serves as a professional development coordinator for the ID Team, as well as a faculty member in the UMB Instructional Design Program, where she teaches graduate level courses in instructional design and multimedia. Her current focus areas include iinternational online education, virtual team collaborations, epedagogies for online, flipped, and blended classrooms, competency based education (CBE), and development of open access courses using OER content.
