Event Overview
Carnegie Mellon University’s Front Door Approach reimagines how institutions handle software approvals and procurement. By creating a single, collaborative entry point, CMU has reduced complexity, ensured compliance, and improved the client experience. This session explores the model’s design, the cross-departmental partnerships that make it work, and the measurable outcomes it has achieved. Participants will gain practical insights into how a centralized, transparent approach can transform procurement challenges into opportunities for efficiency and innovation.
Session Outcomes:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Recognize the key challenges and risks in traditional software approval and procurement processes in higher education.
- Analyze CMU’s Front Door model, focusing on stakeholder engagement, collaborative structures, and supporting tools.
- Apply lessons from CMU’s case studies and metrics to evaluate how similar strategies could be tailored to their own institutions
