Gameful Learning
Speaker: Apostolos Koutropoulos (“AK”)
Apostolos Koutropoulos (“AK”) is the program manager for the online MA program in applied linguistics and a faculty member in the instructional design program at UMass Boston. Since 2011 he has participated in many massive online open courses (MOOCs) and has co-authored research papers with his colleagues in the MobiMOOC Research Team (MRT). AK holds a BA in computer science, an MBA with a focus on human resources, an MS in information technology, an MEd in instructional design, and an MA in applied linguistics. He is currently pursuing an EdD at Athabasca University. His interests include knowledge management, educational technology, online learning, MOOCs, linguistics, and epistemology.
Speaker: Michelle McIntyre
Mish McIntyre is a working Boston artist, educator, and instructional designer. Her work continues to evolve in the application of games and game-based education to the classroom as well as online courses.
Mish McIntyre received her MFA from Massachusetts College of Art & Design and her M.Ed from Suffolk University. Mish currently is the Foundation Studies Program Coordinator at the New England School of Art & Design (NESAD) at Suffolk University. In addition, she is an Instructional Design Assistant for Instructional Services at UMASS Boston. Mish is also a Thesis Advisor for the MA in Graphic Design Program at NESAD.
For the 2013 academic year, Mish was the Facilitator of a Davis Foundation Grant for a Faculty Professional Learning Community (FPLC) on Innovation and Entrepreneurial Thinking with Suffolk University. For the 2014 academic year, McIntyre will be working with a Davis Foundation Grant FPLC in Gameful Learning.
