Bowdoin College merged its Institutional Research and Data Warehousing group in 2015. Over the past three years the integrated office has built a dimensionally modeled data warehouse with internal talent. Bowdoin will share its story about building a data warehouse and how Tableau interactive dashboards have informed campus conversations.

This session will detail the journey that Nichols College took in moving the IRR function from an “old school” spreadsheet-based reporting function to one that is fully integrated with the systems and organizational structure of the college. The presentation will include the rationale for moving IRR into the I.T. organization, where we are now, and the direction we are heading in over the next several years.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute created its Office of Institutional Research and Strategic Decision Support in 2016, as part of its Strategic Plan—Elevate Impact. From the beginning, leaders in IT and the new Director of IR knew that a successful Business Intelligence operation depended on close collaboration. Follow WPI’s journey of strategically staffing up over the past two years and building a plan for data architecture, data visualization, and data-driven decision-making. All while also tackling an ERP implementation!
