Hands-On Leadership and Collaboration: Advancing IT Strategy in Academia - a Leadership Ecosystem Webinar
John Barden
Mr. Barden was appointed the Vice President of Technology and Campus Services at Yale in October 2023 and leads operational units across security, hospitality, administrative services, operations portfolio management, and information technology. He also serves as the University’s Chief Information Officer.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Barden served as the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer for Yale, beginning in 2017. Over those six years, he significantly reshaped the information technology organization of Yale, creating a more integrated planning model across all technology units, strengthening standards and operational practices, building programs to support a more diverse and inclusive workforce, and improving the capability and consistency of delivery of enabling technologies necessary to support Yale’s broad aspirations.
Mr. Barden began his career as a consultant with Arthur Andersen with an emphasis on information technology re-engineering and major technology-enabled process improvement projects. His consulting experience spanned a variety of industries, including higher education and healthcare. Following those roles, Mr. Barden worked as the Deputy Chief Information Officer at the University of Rochester.

George Claffey
George Claffey has been involved in technology and technology education for the past 20 years. Dr. Claffey has served as a Chief Information Officer for the past 15 years at various public higher education institutions including Charter Oak State College, Western Connecticut State University, and the CT Distance Learning Consortium.
As the Chief Information Officer, he provides technology vision and leadership for developing and implementing IT initiatives that create and maintain strategic value for the enterprise. Over the past 15 years, Dr. Claffey has modernized and matured the IT infrastructure, leveraging technology to reduce the physical distance between the college and the students it serves.
He earned degrees from Central Connecticut State University in Management Information Systems (B.S.), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Management (M.S.), and a Doctorate from Northeastern University in Higher Education Administration (Ed.D.)
Ray Frohlich
Ray Frohlich is the Director of Client Services and IT Operations at Yale Library, responsible for delivering IT services that enable successful research, scholarship, and learning outcomes for Yale University's global research community. He has extensive experience in technology and strategic planning, IT service management, and operations, including previous positions at Yale's Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, and New York University. Ray holds a Master of Professional Studies from the Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University and a Bachelor of Science in Communication Theory, Technology, and Management from New York University.
Gina Siesing
Gina Siesing is Chief Information Officer and Constance A. Jones Director of Libraries at Bryn Mawr College. At Bryn Mawr, Gina leads a multi-disciplinary Library & Information Technology Services organization that supports faculty and students in maximizing the benefits of technology for learning and scholarship, enables discovery and analysis of research materials and rich special collections, and facilitates administrative functions College-wide. Gina's work focuses significantly on strengthening our consortial relationships within the Tri-College Consortium with Haverford and Swarthmore Colleges and across the higher education community. Gina is a strong advocate for the critical benefit of liberal arts education in the 21st century, both in terms of graduates' preparedness to contribute and lead in diverse professional fields and in terms of the values of mindful and engaged citizenship that are core to liberal arts learning and practice. Prior to joining the Bryn Mawr community, Gina directed the Educational & Scholarly Technology Services group at Tufts University, working with a phenomenal team to enable innovative and meaningful use of technology across academic contexts. Gina also served on the University IT Leadership Team and University Library Council at Tufts and co-stewarded the Tufts Digital Library program. Gina has been involved with NERCOMP, serving as a past Chair of the Nominating Committee for the Board of Trustees and as co-dean with David Wedaman and Colleen Wheeler of the Learning Organization Academy; and with EDUCAUSE, most recently serving as column editor for the EDUCAUSE Review E-Content column and as EDUCAUSE Representative on the CNI Steering Committee. Gina also served as President of the Board of Directors of the Oberlin Group of Libraries.
