Interactive Digital Fluency

Jim is an educator with whose post-graduate work at the McLuhan Centre for Culture and Technology (University of Toronto) has provided him with a McLuhanistic perspective on the effects of technology. His teaching combines a focus on social learning narratives along with collective, adaptive responses to the turbulence of rapidly emerging technology environments. Jim was recognized with the McGraw-Hill Award for Innovation in Education using his RISK (Rapid Integration of Skills And Knowledge) based learning—an early flipped model of pedagogy that engaged students with emerging technologies in order to drive innovation in learning spaces. Jim has conducted numerous research projects on technology integration in educational contexts.
He is an Adobe Education Leader and an Apple Distinguished Educator.


Jim was the former Program Coordinator of the Foundation Art and Design Program and the acting Chair of the Research, Innovation and Commercialization Committee at the Centre for Art Design and Information Technology, at George Brown College, Toronto, Canada.
