Interim CIO: To Be, or NOT to Be . . .(a Leadership Ecosystem Webinar)
Bethany Rizzardi
Bethany Rizzardi serves as the Chief Information Officer at Cal Poly Humboldt. With over a decade of Higher Ed Information Technology implementation, support, and team leadership experience, including project management, information management, application development, business intelligence, and web development, Bethany is dedicated to fostering relationships with internal and external stakeholders in support of systems and services that meet evolving campus needs. Recent key initiatives include the use of technology to support gender non-conforming students, guiding a team of dedicated IT professionals in expanding multicultural awareness and cultural humility, and working cross-institutionally on solution sharing to help improve operations for the 23-campus CSU system.
Jen Servedio
Jen Servedio is Chief Information Officer at Susquehanna University with over 20 years of experience in IT in higher education. She has a strong background in all facets of IT including network infrastructure, systems, help desk, and end user support. As a leader, she has demonstrated strengths in IT strategy, communication, budget development and management, business plan development and implementation, managing large and multifaceted projects, and building strong and diverse teams.
Jen holds a Master of Science in Information Management and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Data Science from Syracuse University, a Certificate in Women's Leadership from Cornell University, and a BT in Network Administration from Morrisville State College. She has completed the Educause Institute Management and Leadership Programs as well as the Hawkins Leadership Roundtable. She is also a Crucial Conversations certified trainer, a Getting Things Done certified trainer, and is ITIL Foundations certified.
Luke VanWingerden
Luke VanWingerden serves as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for TriCounty Technical College in Pendleton, South Carolina. Luke holds an MBA from the University of South Carolina and a bachelor’s in Communication Studies from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.
Luke has over 15 years of experience serving within higher education information technology where he has held various roles ranging from project and process management to business relationship management as well as to leadership and functional management. In each role, Luke has sought to embody the role he believes information technology should fulfill within higher education, “focused on fostering environments that enable others to ENGAGE, CONNECT and EDUCATE. Information Technology in higher education exists not for itself but to partner with and facilitate educational experiences and business efficiencies.”
Luke has taught as an adjunct instructor at the University of South Carolina Upstate School of Business. Luke is a member of EDUCAUSE and the South Carolina Information Technology Directors Association.
Currently, Luke is serving on the Educause Young Professionals Advisory Committee.
Stan Waddell, Vice President, and CIO, Carnegie Mellon University
Stan Waddell serves as the vice president of information technology and chief information officer at Carnegie Mellon University. In his role, Stan provides vision, leadership, and management for Carnegie Mellon's computing enterprise, including the development and implementation of a university-wide IT strategy.
Before joining Carnegie Mellon, Stan served as the associate vice president for Information Technology and CIO at the University of New Hampshire. He was the assistant vice chancellor and chief technology officer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and spent nine years at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Stan also served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation electronics technician for nine years.
Stan holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Old Dominion University, a master's degree in management and administration sciences from the University of Texas at Dallas, and a doctorate in information systems from Nova Southeastern University. He has Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credentials and a graduate certificate in information assurance from Nova Southeastern University.
