Kim Salinas, professor emeritus of allied health education at the community college level. Throughout her career, Kim taught all of her courses online. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree totally online as well. This sparked her interest in creating effective online courses and sharing her knowledge of the ever-changing online environment. She started using Moodle in 2007 when she piloted the system at her college which was looking to make a change to its Learning Management System. She has worked as a Moodle mentor-assessor and course facilitator since 2008. Kim is happy to be part of the Moodle US team. She was the first person to earn the Moodle Educator Facilitator Certification along with the Moodle Educator Certificate (MEC). In her spare time, she enjoys fishing the great Lake Erie, biking, hiking, and bowling.

Daniel Starr

I am Dr. Daniel Starr and have been a facilitator for the MEC since 2019.  I am a retired school superintendent and have taught in higher ed at both the Masters (SUNY Plattsburgh) and Doctorate (The Sage Colleges) levels.  I have been an HS Principal and then a superintendent.  I earned my Master's at the UNH and my Ed.D. from the University of Buffalo.

One of the challenges with Moodle, as with any other LMS, is staying current with the continuous introduction of new features!  The MEC is offered through MoodleUS and is designed for people who are already proficient to increase their level of expertise.  Hopefully, they become a resource for their own colleagues in the process.

Personally, I grew up in the Buffalo area and gradually moved eastward, where I now live in Glens Falls, NY with my wife Kelly.  My hobbies include reading, golf, and being an audiophile.
