Event Overview

This two-day course explores the design and production of various media assets used to support online learning courses in higher education. Participants will examine specific techniques on how to create quality learning and training products for a project, and work with media production equipment and software applications (MAC only) to create digital audio, motion graphics, digital video, and screencast assets. Examples from current online courses will be demonstrated and reconstructed. Participants will also have the opportunity to create original assets of their own.

Outline:

Digital Audio
· Review design process for producing audio
· Record via computer
· Record via handheld device
· Edit and share

Motion Graphics
· Review design process for creating animations
· Review basic animation techniques
· Gather and/or create media assets
· Edit and share

Digital Video
· Review design process for producing video
· Address audio, composition, location, and lighting
· Choose camera shots and profile
· Prep talent, script and teleprompt
· Edit and share

Screencasts
· Review design process for capturing screencasts
· Demonstrate desktop and tablet capture
· Edit and share
