Event Overview
NERCOMP invites you to join the inaugural NERCOMP CLASS (Collaborate, Listen, Accelerate, Share & Support): Developing a Digital Credential Program. These mini-deep dives allow participants not only to learn but also to create a framework that can be implemented at their own college/university.  You will earn a digital credential for your completion of all related activities and assignments.

Why develop a digital credential program? Learners want to be recognized for their achievements and capabilities. Awarding micro-credentials and digital badges to acknowledge competency and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities enables higher education institutions to show evidence of learning outcomes aligned with career-ready, transferable skills.

This NERCOMP Class provides foundational information about digital credentialing, including key terms and definitions, and will clarify the difference between micro-credentials and badges. Topics covered include identifying learning outcomes; outlining requirements; creating approval processes; performing curriculum mapping; developing supporting content and assessments; evaluating the implemented program; engaging stakeholders; and identifying and growing internal and external partnerships. Participants will learn repeatable strategies that enable program development that scales across courses, programs, and schools as well as identify a credential to design and develop as part of the session activities.

Session Outcomes
Upon completion of the Developing a Digital Credential Program  CLASS, participants will be able to:
 - Describe the role of micro-credentials and badges in making student learning outcomes transparent.
 - Create a process that results in the implementation of a credentialing program.
 - Develop a strategy to engage stakeholders and build partnerships necessary to support and evolve a credentialing program
