Introducing the Next Leaders Fellowship (a Leadership Ecosystem Webinar)

Sherri Braxton, Senior Director for Digital Innovation, Bowdoin College

Dr. Sherri N. Braxton currently serves as the Senior Director for Digital Innovation at Bowdoin College and is responsible for supporting the ongoing Bowdoin Online Learning and Teaching (BOLT) operational vision and strategy and providing day-to-day guidance and support across the overall effort. She leads efforts to document, prioritize and build on teaching and learning lessons from COVID-19 impacted academic terms. She not only partners with stakeholders throughout the college while leading efforts to identify, prioritize, and pursue other opportunities for digital innovation, but she also leads efforts to partner and collaborates with peers and other institutions on these digital learning initiatives.

Prior to joining Bowdoin College, Dr. Braxton served as Senior Director of Instructional Technology at UMBC where she was responsible for leading the Division of Information Technology’s (DoIT) strategy for end-user support of instructional technologies including online, hybrid, and traditional, “face-to-face” technologies. With over 20 years of experience in traditional classroom instruction and adult education strategies grounded in instructional design models, she also possesses years of experience using learning technologies in higher education settings, including the design and facilitation of online and hybrid courses.

Dr. Braxton earned a Doctor of Science in Computer Science with Minors in Educational Leadership and Management Science from George Washington University. She also holds a Master of Science in Computer Science with a Math Minor from North Carolina State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science from Wake Forest University.

In her spare time, Dr. Braxton is a Certified Registered Riding Instructor at the Therapeutic and Recreational Riding Center in Glenwood, MD.

 

Tony Moore, Chief Information Officer (CIO), Prairie View A&M University

Tony Moore was selected in July 2019 to serve as Prairie View A&M University's Chief Information Officer (CIO). He has been a leader in higher education technology over the past 15 years. As the PVAMU CIO, Moore provides the overall vision and leadership in formulating innovative solutions and programs that support the university’s mission and strategic goals. He has over 24 years of leading change and organizational transformation in various business environments. 

Throughout the course of his career, he has consistently proven to be an effective asset in designing enterprise management solutions through a combination of budget forecasting, cost-saving procurement, and integration. He constantly builds strategies to build 21st-century advances in an academic setting promoting the effective and efficient use of technology.

Prior to his appointment as PVMAU, he served as Vice President of Technology Management at the Xavier University of Louisiana [2015-2019], VP of Information and Resource Management at Southern University System [2010-2015], and Chief Information Officer at Baton Rouge, LA [2006-2010].

Stan Waddell, Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO), Carnegie Mellon University

Stan Waddell serves as the vice president for information technology and chief information officer at Carnegie Mellon. In his role, Stan provides vision, leadership, and management to CMU’s entire computing enterprise, including the development and implementation of a university-wide IT strategy.

Stan also serves as a member of the university’s executive management team, providing support and counsel regarding the role of technology in advancing university-wide priorities and leading the development of a comprehensive technology and data management strategy that meets CMU's long-term goals.

Before joining Carnegie Mellon, Stan served as the associate vice president for Information Technology and CIO at the University of New Hampshire. He was the assistant vice chancellor and chief technology officer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and spent nine years at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Stan also served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation electronics technician for nine years.

Stan holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Old Dominion University, a master's degree in management and administration sciences from the University of Texas at Dallas, and a doctorate in information systems from Nova Southeastern University. He has Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credentials and a graduate certificate in information assurance from Nova Southeastern University.
