Jody & Susan will describe the sessions at the recent national OER conference in Richmond and give attendees a sense of subjects dominated the conversations at the conference.

This session will explore the pedagogical flexibility inherent in OER that empowers faculty to use a wider range of resources to allow for student choice of learning materials but also makes incorporating universal design for learning (UDL) easier because of the variety of materials available as well as the ability to augment resources. Participants will be able to better articulate the important of using OER for the purpose of UDL as well as identify different strategies for incorporating UDL. Additionally, they will be able to better strategize incorporating student choice within their courses through the use of OER.

Speaker: Donna Maturi, Coordinator of Library Services, Middlesex Community College
Take a tour of what's happening in the world of Open Licensing. Topics in this presentation will include Creative Commons licensing (what it is, how it works, how to find compatible licenses, best practices in attribution).
This session will also include a discussion of iOER and Creative Commons, free educational resources vs. open. We'll discuss everything you need to know about Creative Commons but were afraid to ask.

There is growing demand for dynamic learning content to accompany OER textbooks. In this session, participants will learn about available interactive learning media licensed under Creative Commons as well as resources that are free to use and which can enhance student engagement.
