From Idea to Impact: Organizing a NERCOMP Professional Development Session - Webinar
Jeff Berliner
Jeff Berliner has served as the Chief Information Officer at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton,NJ since 2007. In this role, he is privileged to manage a diverse and dynamic team of more than 25 staff, and oversees all aspects of technology strategy, planning, policy and service delivery for one of the world’s foremost centers of intellectual inquiry and theoretical research. In his role, Jeff also oversees the Institute's two libraries as well.
Before joining IAS, Jeff served as the Director of Systems for the NYU School of Medicine, and the NYU Medical Center. In addition to these roles, Jeff has served as both Chair and Vice-chair of the NJ CIO Forum. He has chaired three visiting committees for the Simons Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute,and currently serves as a member of their IT Advisory Committee. Jeff has been a speaker and moderator for many regional and national events including those for Educause, NJEdge and NJ Boys State, and currently serves as a mentor in the ACM’s SIGUCCS mentoring program.
On behalf of NERCOMP, Jeff is currently a member of the NERCOMP Board of Trustees. He serves as the Co-Chair of the Professional Development (PD) Committee, of which he has been a member since 2019. He was the chair of the NERCOMP 2024 Annual Conference, and has been a member of the conference planning committee each year since NERCOMP 2020, serving as chair of the Systems and Solutions track. Jeff is a member of the NERCOMP Mentorship Task Force, and has served as a mentor to three participants since the program began. He has been a speaker and moderator for NERCOMP webinars and a participant in Idea Planning Day. Jeff is also the Institute for Advanced Study’s NERCOMP Institutional Representative.
Jeff holds a Master’s Degree in the Management of Technology from the NYU Polytechnic Institute (now NYU Tandon School of Engineering), and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the University at
Albany.
Amy Schack
Amy Schack currently serves as the Professional Development and Member Relations Manager for the Northeast Regional Computing Program (NERCOMP). In this role, she works directly with professional development organizers to plan and execute workshops and webinars, as well as the Board of Trustees to advance the mission and vision of the organization She is also the Co-Chair of the Professional Development Committee, the NERCOMP Annual Conference, and the Mentorship Program Development Task Force.
Before joining NERCOMP, Amy worked as the Director of Residential Life at several colleges and universities in New York. Amy holds a Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Counseling from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Eastern Connecticut State University. She is also a certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide through the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy.
