Event Overview
You’ve been asked to manage a project in your organization, but you have no project management experience or training. Where do you start and just what does the Project Manager do – or not do? This hands-on workshop is designed for newcomers to project management. We’ll track the process of managing a project through its lifecycle, review tools and techniques along the way, and apply them to different project situations. Using a standard project management framework, we’ll help you bring structure and organization to your project, manage your team and the work that needs to be done, and map out a framework for communicating with your stakeholders to keep your project on schedule. Last, we’ll provide an overview of different project management tools and that you can use to keep your project on track.
Session Outcomes:
- Examine the role of the project manager and how a project management framework contributes to success across a variety of project types.
- Develop a Project Brief that defines the project and guides project activities.
- Discuss the activities associated with the phases of the project lifecycle using the “waterfall” project management approach.
- Explore different project management tools and methodologies.
