Pursuing Racial Equity and Anti-Racism in Higher-Ed Information Organizations (a Leadership Ecosystem Webinar)

Michael Cato
Michael leads Information Technology (IT) strategy and operations at Bowdoin College, widely regarded as one of the nation’s foremost liberal arts institutions. He joined the college in March of 2018 with 17 years of experience in Higher Education IT having served in IT roles at Vassar College, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Michael is an EDUCAUSE Leadership Institute faculty member, a mentor for the State University of New York (SUNY) CIO Leadership Academy, a member of the Society for Information Management (SIM) and the Information Technology Senior Management Forum (ITSMF), an Educause Leading Change/Frye Fellow, an alum of Leadership North Carolina, and serves on the board for the American Institute for the Biological Sciences (AIBS) and the Northeast Computing Association (NERCOMP). He holds a B.S. in Zoology from Andrews University and an M.B.A. from Wake Forest University.

Michael loves to learn, read, travel, eat, occasionally cook, and with his wife Heather is raising a totally awesome 5-year-old son.
 

Keith W. ‘Mac’ McIntosh
Keith W. ‘Mac’ McIntosh is Vice President for Information Services and CIO for the University of Richmond, where he is responsible for the day-to-day management and strategic development of the university’s technology and information vision. Mac has over 30 years of IT and executive experience in higher education and the military. He served previously as Associate Vice President and CIO at Ithaca College and Vice Chancellor for IT and CIO at Pima County Community College District, and held progressive leadership and management positions during his distinguished 24.5-year service in the United States Air Force. 

Mac is a member and former chair of the Advisory Board for the Center for Higher Education Chief Information Officer Studies (CHECS). He is a board member for the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) and the Leadership Board for CIOs. McIntosh holds an MBA with honors from Trident University International and a BS in management information systems from Bellevue University. He completed the Center for Creative Leadership program in 2016, and was a 2012 Leading Change Institute Fellow. He completed the EDUCAUSE Institute Leadership Program and CIO Executive Council (CEC) Pathways Leadership Development Program. Mac has written for EDUCAUSE Review and Business Officer. He is a diversity, equity, and inclusion advocate, and is passionate about developing aspiring IT leaders. He served as an EDUCAUSE Institute Management Program Faculty and received the inaugural EDUCAUSE Rising Star Award in 2011. He is a sought-after speaker who has delivered numerous conference keynotes.
 

Tina Pappas
Tina Pappas is a leader in the Higher Education space with masters degrees in organizational communication and business administration. Tina's career includes experience in helpdesk, IT operations management, process optimization, and strategic planning.

She is particularly invested in increasing collegiality, communications, and collective engagement among and between personnel throughout the decentralized and often siloed university systems.  Tina works to build community and create a dynamic organizational culture in which staff can connect professionally and interpersonally. She acts as the interface between individuals and the systems within which they work and fosters the development of both. Some of the professional initiatives at Rutgers University include creating an onboarding program for IT professionals, growing a virtual community for the IT workforce, developing processes and frameworks for IT Governance, and assisting in the enhancement of IT communications.
