Event Overview
A couple of years ago Fairfield University rolled out Quip to its community. We have found it to be a highly effective way to engage classes in collaborative projects, online discussions, and group projects. With its simple, mobile-friendly interface and its ability to notify students of colleagues’ & instructors’ edits and comments, Quip can cut down on course emails, facilitate (and allow you to track) group work, and allow students to interact with your material collaboratively and with each other seamlessly.
Or, as the makers of Quip describe it…
Q: What is Quip?
A: Quip allows you to create “living documents”<http://quip.com/about/why> - much like a regular Microsoft Word or Google Document, you can use it in countless ways, but where Quip really is special...
* Work and communicate in the same place: Have a question about the syllabus? Have a comment on an entry? Need feedback? Do it all from one interface, rather than several (i.e. email, chat, blackboard).
* Amazing on mobile: Do all your work from your tablet or phone, no need to wait until you're in front of the computer (iOS<https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/quip-docs-chat.../id647922896?mt=8> and Android<https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quip.quip&hl=en>, desktop<http://quip.com/download> and web<http://quip.com/>), and get notifications when others are collaborating with you.
* It combines tons of services into one - Quip has documents, spreadsheets, slides, wikis, checklists, and chat all in one experience, saving time and angst.
No more emailing attachments and asking for feedback — create the content and discuss it in Quip.
