Event Overview:

Today’s college students are mobile-first, career-focused, and balancing complex academic, financial, and personal pressures. As both learners and part-time employees in IT and Library settings, their expectations—and needs—are rapidly changing. This Leadership Ecosystem session will explore who today’s students are, what motivates them, and how their voices can shape better systems, services, and workplace practices.

Our panel will share some of the following from very different perspectives and areas of expertise:
 - Examine generational and cultural traits of today’s higher education students
 - Explore student employment trends and what students seek beyond a paycheck
 - Reflect on how IT and library practices can align—or misalign—with student expectations.
 - Identify strategies to mentor, empower, and learn from student employees.

Join us to gain insights that will strengthen your organization’s support of students, both as learners and part-time workers, enriching their student experience and fostering practices that drive success for all.

Session Outcomes
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
 - Identify the key generational and cultural traits of today’s college students.
 - Understand student expectations as both learners and part-time employees in IT settings.
 - Evaluate how current IT practices align or misalign with student needs, motivations, and support structures.
