Event Overview
In this interactive webinar, participants will explore a design process for creating meaningful summative assessments that move beyond traditional tests and papers. Focusing on performance-based approaches, the session will highlight how to craft tasks that are authentic to real-world contexts, academically rigorous, and relevant to students’ future learning and work. Participants will examine examples from the facilitator’s own courses and gain practical strategies to refine or design summative assessments that deepen engagement and demonstrate true learning.
Session Outcomes:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Define and differentiate the key principles of authenticity, rigor, and relevance in assessment design.
- Apply strategies for developing performance-based summative assessments aligned with meaningful learning outcomes.
- Analyze and adapt real examples to enhance their own summative assessment practices.
