Mary Emerick

Mary Emerick is the Executive Director of Human Resources at Middlesex Community College.  She draws on over fifteen years of human resources experience across diverse organizations in the healthcare, beverage, manufacturing, automotive and utility industries in Virginia, Minnesota, New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio.  Mary focuses on enhancing organizational capabilities to achieve measurable business results in employee relations, leadership development, employee engagement, performance management, and conflict resolution.  She is a certified Lean Leader and an evidence-based Human Resources practitioner.  Mary holds a Bachelor of Science, with Honors, from Cornell University and a Masters in Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University.  She is an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management and has sat on the board with Habitat for Humanity. 

 

Laura Kangas

Founder, CEO and Senior Consultant of RiverBend Associates, Inc., Laura is a designer, facilitator and strategist of organizational and individual change and development. RiverBend reflects the values that made Laura start her own company - including customized client focused consulting and design, as well as a commitment to continued growth and development and leading edge technology. Well known for her outstanding workshop and strategy design, as well as her group facilitation skills, Laura has collaborated with many diversity consultants and international consulting firms. She has a passion for life long learning and supporting positive change, equality and compassion.

Laura has a Master's Degree from Harvard University focused on Adult and Organizational Development and Cross Cultural Counseling, As a visiting Professor at SUFE - Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, she taught Organizational Behavior in the Accelerated MBA Program. Laura has also designed and taught a Leadership Program at the Isle of Man International School of Business (on the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea). She is certified in MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator).  She received jer Undergraduate Degree in Education, with a minor in Psychology, from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst!  


Robin Pellegrino

Robin Pellegrino, SPHR, SHRM-SPC is the Director of Human Resources at Assumption College.  Robin has spent most of her career in Human Resources, and previously worked in banking and manufacturing, prior to joining Assumption in 2000 as Assistant Director.  In 2006 she became Associate Director and was named Director earlier this year. 

In her current role, Robin oversees recruiting, employment, benefits and payroll, and serves on the College’s calendar, benefits, and safety committees.  She is also a Deputy Title IX Coordinator. 

Robin holds a BA from Worcester State University and the Senior Professional in Human Resources designation from the Human Resources Certification Institute and the SHRM-SPC certification from the Society for Human Resource Management.


Amy E. Schack

Amy Schack currently serves as the Program Coordinator for the Northeast Regional Computer Program (NERCOMP).  In this role, she works directly with professional development organizers to plan and execute workshops, as well as the Board of Trustees to advance the mission and vision of the organization.  She also serves on the Professional Development Committee and the Community Relations Committee.  Additionally, she handles all social media for NERCOMP.

Amy also serves as Consultant for education and health care clients. Prior to joining NERCOMP, Amy worked as the Director of Residential Life at several colleges and universities in New York.  Amy experienced two college mergers and several reorganizations while in Student Affairs.
Amy holds a Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Counseling from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Eastern Connecticut State University.  


Kim Schandel

Kimberly Schandel, Ph.D., is the Associate Provost of Assumption College in Worcester, MA.  Her work focuses on curriculum issues, faculty development, and undergraduate and graduate program development and assessment.  She previously served as the Chairperson of the Department of Natural Sciences and taught biology and chemistry classes and labs at the College for 20 years.  Her research interests are in the field of cell signaling and she was a postdoctoral fellow of the American Cancer Society while conducting studies at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. 

 Kim earned a B.S. in Biochemistry from the Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Cell and Molecular Biology from Duke University.

Peter Shea

Peter Shea is an instructional designer who current serves as the director of the Office of Professional Development at Middlesex Community College in Massachusetts. in his role, he has been involved in supporting organizational change at several levels. He has worked as a college instructor, an editor, a webmaster, and writer. He has a particularly interest in the use of educational simulations and serious games in higher education, especially in the context of Open Educational Resources.

Peter is also currently a board member for NEFDC, the New England Faculty Development Consortium and member of the planning group for the Serious Play conference.
