Women in Technology Unite and Ignite Your Career
Speaker: Karen Catlin
Karen Catlin develops powerful women leaders in the tech industry with leadership coaching and advising companies on how to attract and retain female talent. Because she is a technical woman herself with extensive experience in Silicon Valley, she wants to help the next generation of women have successful careers.
She’s an entrepreneur and an executive. Formerly, Karen was a vice president at Adobe Systems, where she led corporate-wide product globalization, software security, and other cross company functions while reporting to the CTO. Today, she’s the founder of Karen Catlin Consulting and a contributing member of Femgineer, an organization that educates, encourages, and empowers women in tech.
Outside of her commercial ventures Karen works with a number of non-profits leveraging her same passion. She’s on the Board of Directors of The CLUB, an incubator of women leaders. Through Brown University Women's Launch Pad, she mentors young women about to start their careers. She’s also on the Advisory Board for MentorNet, an organization that provides mentoring for STEM students.
Karen is a writer for Women 2.0, a TEDx speaker, and a contributor to Fast Company and Inc. She also publishes "Use Your Inside Voice," a blog about the intersection of leadership and parenting. Find her online at www.karencatlin.com and on Twitter @kecatlin.

Speaker: Katie Vale
Dr. Katie Vale is Director of Digital Learning at the Harvard University School of Public Health. Prior to her current position she spent six years as Director of Academic Technology for the Harvard University Faculty of Arts and Sciences. She has served as co-chair of the Harvard Teaching and Learning Consortium, founding Course Development Manager for HarvardX, and interim Managing Director for Harvard-wide academic technology services. Before coming to Harvard she was Assistant Director of MIT's Office of Educational Innovation and Technology and manager of the Academic Computing Educational Technology Consulting group. She also worked on the Intermedia hypertext system at the Brown University Institute for Research in Information and Scholarship (IRIS). Areas of expertise include include educational technology, IT governance, instructional design, online learning, and academic administration. She received undergraduate degrees from Brown in Cognitive Science and Anthropology and a doctorate from Boston University SED. She is a 2012 Frye Fellow.
