Event Overview
Student employees play a major role in the daily operations of a Service Desk, Lab Administration, Library, Academic Technology, etc… Providing effective training to students guarantees an efficient student workforce that provides the highest quality of service. Training student employees is also a valuable opportunity for supervisors to learn more about students and for students to get to know each other.

This workshop will discuss different training strategies for student employees, including soft skills training, technical training and team-building exercises, and the value that gamification has for student employees. Participants will leave with a better understanding of how to develop a training program, implementation strategies and ideas for evaluating the effectiveness of a training program after completion.

Attendees will hear from several professionals who conduct student employee training on a yearly and on-going basis. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to share ideas and experiences.

Session Outcomes:
 - Different methods and approaches to training student workers.
 - Ideas for evaluating the effectiveness of training.
 - Engage in team building strategies and implementation.
