Milena Batanova
Milena currently leads the school-based strategy development and evaluation work at Making Caring Common, a project of the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She's dedicated to finding effective, scalable, and sustained ways to cultivate empathy in young people and the adults with whom they interact. As MCC’s Research and Evaluation Manager, she’s also involved in various related initiatives, including MCC’s Caring Schools Network – which supports schools in improving their school climate so as to foster more caring and inclusive communities – and the development of specific strategies that guide older students in ‘talking across the aisle’ when it comes to socio-political issues. Milena obtained her PhD in Health Behavior & Health Education from The University of Texas at Austin, where she conducted research on individual and social factors related to empathy and aggression/victimization in adolescence. Milena then joined the Institute for Applied Research in Youth Development at Tufts University, first as a postdoctoral scholar and then a Research Assistant Professor. There, she co-directed the Arthur Interactive Media Buddy Project - an elementary school program using peer mentoring and interactive graphic novels to develop character virtues such as empathy and humility in young students. Milena enjoys reading, traveling, and good company.

Philip Levine
I began working with VR with the Oculus Developer Kits several years ago and quickly found a passion for it. I’m a recent graduate of the University of New Haven looking to find a place to put my VR/AR skills to work. I currently create games for sale and prototypes for education and entertainment under the label Cold Flame Studios. I occasionally consult with University of New Haven faculty on VR/AR projects, and I recently was involved in proposing a new Multidisciplinary Innovative Learning Laboratory for the University of New Haven that would use new technologies like VR/AR to teach students, develop their skills, and get them jobs. I'm hopeful that the University will be receptive and intend to do great things going forward.
