Is Design Thinking Right for Your Faculty Development Initiative?

Carol Damm

Carol oversees the assessment of 12 programs offered by GPS as well as course development and teaching for GPS with a focus on innovating to meet the needs of industry partners. Carol has 12 years experience in the fields of learning design and communications in both for-profit, K-12, and Higher Education. She consults and presents on Learning Experience Design informed by her experience in website management, strategic planning, and learning design expertise. Carol's research interests focus on adult learners’ motivation and drive in order to effectively develop courses and programs that will contribute to their success in meeting their professional goals.

Kim Round

Kim leads the Instructional Innovation Center at Saint Anselm College and has twenty years of experience in various higher education technology leadership roles. Particularly, Kim is passionate about investigating how instructional design and technology innovations can enhance teaching and learning. Kim has played key roles in starting online initiatives at several higher education institutions. In addition to her work at Saint Anselm College, Kim also teaches at the Harvard University Extension School and Brandeis University. Her current research focuses on active learning, online program development, and cloud-based instructional technologies.

Brian Salemo

Brian currently leads the instructional design and course development team within the Center for Digital Innovation in Learning at Boston College. Previously, he served as Director of Online Learning & Instructional Design and Founding Program Chair for the M.S. in Instructional Design & Technology at Brandeis University. Brian has extensive background in Instructional design, pedagogical best practices for distance learning, academic technology for teaching and learning, and support and administration for online, blended, and hybrid undergraduate and graduate programs. In addition, Brian has taught at the undergraduate and graduate level in the fields of digital media, communications, media production, project management, and instructional design & technology. He is currently a doctoral candidate in the Ed.D. Higher Education program at Northeastern University.
