Creating an Engaged and Engaging IT Organization

Gillian Bell

Gillian Bell is a Project Manager who joined Brown's Academic Technology team in 2014.  She works with instructional designers and technologists to organize their work with faculty, manages all kinds of projects (currently, the development of online Title IX training modules and the implementation of a new lecture capture service.) Gillian leads communication efforts about Brown's academic technology services, producing videos, case studies, and reports.

As a Project Manager in the larger IT organization for six years, Gillian managed the implementation of Google Apps for Education, the roll-out of a closed captioning system for online courses and media, and an assessment of learning management systems. 

Gillian has a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design.  She earned her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in 2007 and ITIL certification in 2012 and currently serves on Brown's Diversity Advisory Board. 


Stephanie Obodda

Stephanie manages Communications and Training for Brown's IT department. She is passionate about marketing IT services, engaging members of the University community, and making technical concepts more accessible. Before Brown, she worked at Digication and helped develop their e-Portfolio product, and also has done freelance web development and led classes on topics such as programming concepts, JavaScript, web development, and blogging. She has a bachelors from Princeton University, a new media certificate from the former ICPNM program at the Rhode Island School of Design, and an MBA from the University of Rhode Island.


Susan West

Susan is Associate Director of the Office of the CIO for Information Technology Services (ITS) at Yale University. At Yale, her work focuses on supporting ITS and the Office of the CIO in a variety of initiatives including, technology-focused events and alumni engagement, the Student Technology Collaborative, youth internship programs, strategic communications, diversity and recruitment initiatives, and strategies for customer satisfaction. Susan holds an MA in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The Ohio State University and a BA in Communication Studies from Furman University. She has worked in higher education in a variety of fields such as admissions, student activities, and academic advising. Prior to Yale, Susan was the Executive Assistant for the Associate Dean for Technology and CIO at Columbia Business School. Susan is an active supporter of the arts, serving dance and performing arts in a variety of capacities.
