An introduction to Tableau. This discussion will focus on how Tufts Technology Services (TTS) is using Tableau and what TTS was doing before Tableau. 

9:30am – 10:30am  Current State of Reporting/Visualization at your Institution (Interactive Session)

We will conduct an interactive session designed to collect information on the current state of reporting/visualization at your institution. Breakout groups will collect themes and bring them back for discussion to the larger group.

10:40am – 12:00pm   Get your data into Tableau!

During this session, we will discuss various methods for getting your data into Tableau. Starting with simple import of Excel/CSV files, connecting to a cloud service, such as Google Analytics or using an data warehouse.

1:00pm – 2:30 pm Create your own Tableau Dashboard (Hands-on exercise)  - Walk through creating your own dashboard

During this session, participants will use their own computers to create an account on "Tableau Public" and will use the free version of Tableau associated with the Tableau Public offering to create your own Dashboard using a sample data set.

2:45pm – 3:30pm Delving Deeper into production dashboards at Tufts - Best practices and Tips for visualizations.
Speaker: Laura Clarage, Service Management Analyst, Tufts University

As the TTS motto states, we will Work Smart, Learn More and Delve Deeper using Tableau.  During this session, we'll demonstrate examples of production dashboards in use at Tufts and talk about the different features in use. We'll discuss best practices and tips/tricks.
