Event Overview
Participants will explore effective practices for leveraging LMS data analytics to inform instructional design.

Session 1 will focus on the application of LMS data to inform instructional design practices such as course organization, facilitation of asynchronous discussions, and structuring student groups.  Instructional designers will discuss scenarios for utilizing LMS data in consultation with faculty.  Presenters will introduce a variety of approaches they have undertaken to identify and gather data to answer these questions.

Session 2 will introduce tools for harvesting, analyzing, and visualizing user-generated data from different learning management systems (e.g. Blackboard and Canvas).  Presenters will share analytical tools developed by or implemented at different institutions that facilitate this type of data gathering and analysis.

These presentations will be followed by smaller group discussions, inviting participants to brainstorm, collaborate, experiment with tools, predict outcomes, and plan for implementation.

Session Outcomes:
Explore instructional design techniques for applying lessons learned from LMS data
-  Identify the data that can be harvested from your LMS
- Investigate tools for gathering, analyzing and visualizing LMS data
