9:30am - 10:30am Blackboard: Introducing a New Look and Reacquainting with Features

This session will provide a glimpse into the new Bb Learn user interface as well as an examination of some features within Blackboard Learn that are often overlooked, but can have a profound impact on teaching and learning. An overview showcase of these tools will be presented, along with explanations as to how they can be useful both from an instructor and student perspective.

10:45am – 11:45am Ensuring Accessibility within your Blackboard Course Site

Andrea Milligan, Director of Instructional Technology and Design at North Shore community College
This session will identity the principles of universal design for learning and accessibility including the impact on curricula design and teaching practices. Participants will then learn and discuss best practices and strategies for incorporating these principles into their Blackboard course sites to benefit all learners.

12:45pm - 1:30pm Managing High Risk Students Using Blackboard Retention Tools

Blackboard has a number of tools that can help to identify and monitor students who are at risk of not being successful. Retention has been a conversation at all colleges and universities and each institution is utilizing various tools and processes to ensure students are successful. In this session, we will introduce the various Blackboard tools that can help faculty and institutions manage high risk students and assist them in being successful and build confidence so they achieve their academic goals.

1:45pm - 2:45pm New Ways to Collaborate
Speaker: Anthony Jovanis, Customer Success Advocate, Blackboard Inc.
This session will provide a glimpse into the new Collaborate user interface and focus on best practices for current Collaborate users. We will highlight the integration with Learn, demonstrate how to create and utilize virtual office hours, and showcase screen sharing options. We will also highlight areas of BBIM such as virtual help desks, ability to hold instant voice calls, and screen sharing between students and instructors.
