Contract Management: How To Make Sure You Get What You Want and Don’t Give Away the Farm!

Mark Berman
Mark is the Chief Information Officer at Siena College. At Siena he is responsible for all aspects of Information Technology and Telecommunications. Before Siena he was CIO at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, and prior to that held management roles at Williams College and Digital Equipment Corporation. Mark has found dealing with Contracts and the legal side of IT management an increasing part of his job over the years.

Mark earned a BS in Computer Science from the State university of New York and a MS from Syracuse University in Telecommunications and Network Management. In addition to his professional appointments, Mark has served on the Boards of NERCOMP and CLAC, the program committee for NYSCIO, and is currently on the Enterprise Systems Advisory Panel for Educause. He is also the Educause constituent group leader for Strategic Planning.


Matthew Dalton
An information technology leader with more than 16 years experience in information security, policy development, compliance, and risk management, Matthew Dalton currently serves as the Chief Information Security Officer at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Before joining UMass Amherst, Matthew was the Director of Information Security at Ohio University where he successfully led the implementation of a first-in-class, comprehensive information security program. Matthew holds a graduate degree (M.S. with Honors) in Information Assurance from Norwich University and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional. He is an active member of EDUCAUSE, Higher Education Information Security Council, and other higher education professional organizations. 


Tracy Mitrano
Tracy  is the Academic Dean of the Trust, Assurance and Cybersecurity Certificate Program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.  Formerly the Director of Information Technology Policy at Cornell University, Mitrano facilitated the creation of some of higher education’s first generation information security policies.  A former EDUCAUSE Board member, Mitrano was co-chair of the Internet2/EDUCAUSE Security Task Force and co-director of the Institute for Computer Law and Policy (ICPL).  As the principle of the consulting firm, Mitrano & Associates, Mitrano spearheaded information security assessment, information technology policy development and information risk management for clients such as Internet2, the New York Public Library, SafeGov, University of Massachusetts System, UMass Amherst, and the University of Delaware.  She holds a doctorate in American History from Binghamton University and a law degree from Cornell Law School.
