Speaker: Sam Anderson
Sam Anderson is a Coordinator of Faculty Support and Instructional Design at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Sam has expertise with active learning tools and spaces, learning management systems, training and documentation, faculty instruction, open source software development, and game-based learning. Sam has facilitated professional development events for a number of higher ed organizations. Sam holds a MLIS from the University of Rhode Island and and BA from Hampshire College. Prior to joining the staff at UMass, Sam worked as an academic research librarian for over 4 years.
Speaker: Sarah Hutton
Sarah Hutton is the Head of Undergraduate Teaching and Learning Services at the W.E.B. Bu Bois Library, and a doctoral student in the Department of Educational Policy, Research and Administration (EPRA) in the College of Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her department includes the Learning Commons to support undergraduate student learning, the Teaching Commons for faculty collaboration and support, and the Digital Media Lab for student multimedia project creation. Sarah also closely collaborates with first-year programs, such as the Commonwealth Honors College, and the Writing Program, working to integrate information, media and visual literacies into the curriculum. Her research interests include: learning spaces, student agency and engagement, multiliteracy, open education, and playful learning.
Speaker: Tes Cotter Zakrzewski, Ed.D
Tes Cotter Zakrzewski is a dynamic educator, practitioner and scholar. Tes is the Director of Learning Innovation & Technology at Wentworth Institute of Technology and partners with a strong team to support faculty at Wentworth in their continued journey toward excellence in teaching and learning through course development and instructional technology. Tes serves as adjunct faculty at Wentworth Institute of Technology and served as adjunct faculty at Suffolk and Northeastern Universities. Tes brings over 20 years of experience in global financial services in operations management, learning & development, management & leadership development, and organizational development. Tes holds an Ed.D in Adult Education and Leadership from Teachers College Columbia University, a MS in Training and Development from Lesley University, and a BS in Business from U Mass Lowell. Tes’ research interests include: dialogue, experiential and informal learning, and transfer of learning.
Speaker: Fred Zinn
Fred Zinn is Associate Director of Academic Computing in the Office of Instructional Technologies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He oversees the group that provides support to faculty who use technologies in their teaching, including the campus LMS, instructional media production, audience response system, lecture capture, and an ever changing landscape of emerging technologies. He has a personal interest and expertise in topics related to visual literacy, information design, and fair use.
