Andrea Milligan, Director of Instructional Technology and Design, North Shore Community College

In Fall, 2012, our department launched a project that set out to listen to and engage with the faculty (and the college at large) about the uses and concerns of instructional technology at North Shore Community College. The project has completed the first (of three) phases wherein we met with or made opportunities to meet with the faculty to discuss and learn about their usage and concern of instructional technology. A major component of this project was to interact with faculty face to face as much as possibly and improve their understanding of who we are and how we can support their work. The presentation will look at the planning phase, the actual launch of the project, and the first phase results, identyfing what worked, what didn't, where the project currently stands as it begins the second phase. All materials used for the project will be made available to attendees.

12:45pm - 1:45pm Collaborative approaches to Foster Learning Innovation at Wentworth Institute of Technology
Speakers:
Tes Cotter Zakrzewski, Director of Learning Innovation & Technology, Wentworth Institute of Technology
Sarah Walkowiak, Instructional Designer, Wentworth Institute of Technology

Wentworth Institute of Technology is continuing on a journey to partner with academic leadership and faculty to foster excellence in teaching and learning. The Learning Innovation & Technology group is striving to empower faculty to innovate through active, experiential and transformational learning methods. We are enhancing our academic technology toolkit by implementing several new tools for use this fall: lecture capture, streaming video, online tutorials, secure testing, plagiarism detection, and online collaboration.
The approach for engaging faculty with these new technology tools is through targeted, supported pilots. We'll share best practices from managing multiple vendors and rollouts at once and how we are leveraging support and training. A collaboration model with Colleges of the Fenway and UMass Online partner institutions enables us to share costs and practices. A new service delivery model enables faculty support through targeted context-specific training, hands-on support, an online resource center, and informal social learning opportunities. You'll get an in-process view into Learning Innovation & Technology at Wentworth!
