Event Overview
Organizations provide a variety of online systems and tools for their users, from student information systems to portals to service catalogs. When you add these to the plethora of interfaces that people interact with outside of work, the average user must navigate through a confusing variety of forms, information, and designs. Fortunately, some basic principles can help us create interfaces that are less confusing, more intuitive, and more enjoyable to use; improving the presentation and organization of our own systems improves the user experience.
Speakers will share key design principles and real-world examples of their applications, including before-and-after redesigns of key campus interfaces. Attendees will also be invited to put these principles to work; a hands-on workshop in the second half of the day will lead participants to try their hands at mocking up solutions to a few common design challenges, with the help of our speakers.
