Speaker: Jessica Egan, Associate Director of Instructional Design and Faculty Development, Bay Path University

This session explores the challenges and approaches that Instructional Designers experience in higher education that distinguishes them from corporate IDs.  Furthermore, the session will examine the unique challenges IDs face in higher education and how to work through or around them.

This session explores what are the tools that Instructional Designers regularly work with or challenges they face in tool acquisition, training, and use as well as ways of resolving such issues.  Ultimately, the session explores the issue of grappling with staying up-to-date while also supporting faculty and students who represent the full range of comfort and familiarity with technology.

Instructional design work entails working closely with faculty in various capacities.  This session explores some of the most effective ways to work with them and how to navigate tensions with faculty.  Additionally, some discussion will explore how to strategically leverage successful collaborations into larger institutional support and capital.

1:30pm - 2:30pm   Designing for All Students
Speaker: Lance Eaton, Instructional Designer, Brandeis University

All instructional design work is there to help out the diverse student body.  This session asks participants to consider how we keep the student in mind throughout our work and become the best advocates for their learning in our respective institutions.  It will also explore how we can balance the technology and faculty to make sure the students get the best education possible.
