Instructional Design for Everyone: ID Within Ed Tech Services
Speaker: Carole Currie
Carole Currie is the Assistant Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Salve Regina University. During her corporate and academic career Carole has presented over 2,500 seminars to more than 25,000 professionals. As President of the Salve Regina Toastmaster’s Club, she holds an Advanced Bronze Communicator Award. Carole is known for her ability to create a collaborative and interactive group dynamic through her presentations. She has also served multiple times on the NERCOMP Conference Programming Committee. Carole has her MS in Management and a CGS in Leadership from Salve Regina University.
Speaker: Adrienne Gauthier
Adrienne is an instructional designer in the Educational Technologies group at Dartmouth College. She brings over fourteen years experience in teaching, learning, and technology to the faculty of Arts & Sciences. Special projects involve engaging instructors in student-centered teaching approaches and promoting active learning experiences in their courses. She primarily works with STEM departments, calling on her decade of experience in astronomy education and outreach.
Speaker: Jim Grenier
Jim Grenier specializes in the design and facilitation of eLearning, focusing on UX, interactive educational media and student engagement. In 2012 he was named one of 25 thought leaders in virtual communications by the Association of Virtual Words. He is co-developer of the Open- Source Rhetorical Simulations 1.0 project.
Currently he serves as Associate Director and Instructional Designer of the Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology Innovation at Massachusetts Bay Community College, where he trains and coaches faculty in the use of best practices-based course design and technology integration in their online, hybrid and web-assisted courses. He runs the Online Instructors Institute, is the project manager for the College's Mobile Learning Initiative and chairs the Edtech Collaborative.
When not designing and teaching he enjoys spending time with family, reading and writing speculative fiction.
Speaker: Judy Teng
Judy Teng, Ph.D. is the Director of the Office of Instructional Design Services at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. With 25 years’ experience in teaching, and instructional design and development in higher education, Judy leads the Instructional Design Team to provide faculty support to both Albany and Vermont campuses of the College. With project model the team works with faculty on flipped classroom, blended and online courses, animations, simulations, and various video projects. Judy holds a doctorate degree on Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration on Instructional Design and Technology. Her research and practice interests involve distance education, ePortfolio, curriculum and instructional design and development, faculty development, student learning assessment, program development, and program evaluation. Judy embraces learner-centered teaching for online, blended, and face-to-face environments. She published papers of her research and practice in professional journals and presented at regional, national, and international conferences.
