10:15am – 11:15am Federated Single Sign-On

Speaker: Tom Scavo, Consultant

This talk is about single sign-on (SSO) and the role of federated identity in SSO environments. We show how to achieve standards-based, cross-domain, single sign-on across the enterprise (at least for web browsers). Topics include: SSO protocols and implementations; deployment issues and interoperability; and the importance of SAML metadata and SAML federations for deployments at scale.

11:15am – 12:15pm SSO @ Marist
Speaker: Joseph Fischetti, Linux System Administrator, Marist College

Marist College offers a number of different services to our students and staff, and SSO is an incredibly important piece of the user experience puzzle.  Marist College has traditionally used CAS and LDAP as a single sign on and identity management environment, though more recently we've had the need to expand and support SAML2.  In this presentation, we'll look at some of the differences between CAS and Shibboleth, and explore the ongoing challenges of moving from one system to another.
