Over the years our Student Support group has been viewed as "the farm team" by many of the IT groups on our campus, this association has benefitted both our university and our graduating staff members! Let's talk about how easy it can be to start this process moving in your organization!

1:00pm - 1:30pm Innovations at Yale University
Speaker: Adam Bray, Assistant Manager, Student Technology Collaborative, Yale University
This presentation will focus on the Student Developer program, a new initiative for Yale University started in the summer of 2012. This program was designed to nurture students interested in learning about or improving their skills in software development. As part of this program, we offer a one-semester, not-for-credit class in the basics of web development. High performing students interested in continued learning/improvement and employment are hired within the department. These students may then propose or be assigned to projects where they can make meaningful contributions. We're also exploring ways to connect student developers with other groups in ITS (such as advisory roles on new projects that impact students). This presentation will provide details about the program, the course, and samples of the work produced during the first semester, as well as where we are looking to advance this program in the future.
