Learning Science and Design: Strengthening Collaboration between Libraries and Faculty in the University Learning Ecosystem - Online Workshop

Viral Amin
Viral Amin is Reference Librarian for Electronic Resources at Bentley University.  In addition to managing Electronic Library Resources, he provides library reference and instructional support to students and faculty.  Viral has held librarian positions covering an array of responsibilities in Technical and Collection Services, IT, and Data Management. He was also employed in Academic Publishing for a short time.  He is learning about Learning Science and Design with the aim of improving the learning experience. 


John McCormick
John McCormick is the Associate Director of Learning Design for Brandeis University, where he works with a team housed in the library that collaborates with faculty and instructional support staff across the university. He has worked in similar roles at Simmons University, Lesley University and North Shore Community College. Prior to that, he taught ESL to adults in Seattle area community colleges.  His interests focus on the pedagogical aspects of Learning Design and on the integration of teaching and design skills into faculty professional development. He has taught and co-taught in a variety of environments, including learning centers, community colleges, a university ESL program, and in blended, online, and face-to-face formats. He has a Master’s degree in Educational Communications and Technology from the University of Washington. 


Peter Shea
Peter Shea is a learning professional with extensive experience as a designer, instructor, editor, writer, and professional development manager. He is an advocate for highly immersive learning experiences and for using learning analytics to inform learning design.  He is co-editor of the recently published book  Transforming Digital Learning and Assessment: A Guide to Available and Emerging Practices and Building Institutional Consensus.
