Mark Berman
Mark is the Chief Information Officer at Siena College. At Siena he is responsible for all aspects of Information Technology and Telecommunications. Before Siena he was CIO at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, and prior to that held management roles at Williams College and Digital Equipment Corporation. Mark has found dealing with Contracts and the legal side of IT management an increasing part of his job over the years.

Mark earned a BS in Computer Science from the State university of New York and a MS from Syracuse University in Telecommunications and Network Management. In addition to his professional appointments, Mark has served on the Boards of NERCOMP and CLAC, the program committee for NYSCIO, and is currently on the Enterprise Systems Advisory Panel for Educause. He is also the Educause constituent group leader for Strategic Planning.

 

Jacob Farmer
Jacob Farmer is the Chief Technology Officer of Cambridge Computer, a position he has held since co-founding the company in 1991. Jacob has been a familiar face in the data storage industry for over 25 years. He has written for a number of trade publications and has been a featured speaker at many conferences and educational events, most notably USENIX, LOPSA, and SNIA.

In the data storage industry, Jacob is best known for authoring best practices on enterprise data protection and for helping numerous early-stage companies define their target use cases and establish their first customers. In academic circles, he is highly regarded for his work in defining best practices to manage the life cycle of scientific research data and for identifying novel solutions to reduce costs and streamline operations related to digital preservation. Jacob is a graduate of Yale University.

Chris Kitzmiller
Chris has been a system administrator at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts since 2009. Primary duties include management of computing infrastructure for academic and administrative services. Focuses on LDAP, Shibboleth, email, Nagios, VMware, and some custom LAMP development. Hobbies include making charts of everything and keeping Nagios happy. Before working in academia (where we're all concerned with FERPA compliance) Chris worked for consulting agencies with a strong focus on the medical industry and HIPPA compliance.
