Event Overview

Part 1: ITSM Change Management (1st in a 4 Part IT Service Management Series)
Part 2: ITSM Overview/Service Catalog: January 23, 2019 (Southbridge, MA)
Part 3:  User Experience, February 28, 2019 (UMass-Amherst)
Part 4:  Incident Management, June 11, 2019 (Waltham, MA)

Effective change management is foundational to successful IT Service Management.  Ensuring that all changes to core infrastructure and systems required to provide essential services are assessed for risk, planned, communicated, tracked, and reported on in a standardized way helps bring order to the chaos change naturally creates.  This order allows the IT organization to minimize the frequency and severity of change-related incidents, problems, and outages. Implementing an ITSM-centric change management model helps establish and maintain the balance between the need for changes and the potential negative impacts inherent when changes are made.

Join your colleagues from IT departments at UNH, NEU and WPI while we share, in hands-on sessions, our experience implementing the ITSM process of Change Management. We will be using hypothetical changes in exercises that will be interactive.

Session Outcomes:
 -
What is Change Management?
 - What are the Roles and Responsibilities of people in my organization?
 - What is a Change Advisory Board, and what do they do?
 - How to assess the risk of changes and why categorizing changes by risk matters
 - What is a typical process – i.e. what does the workflow look like?
 - What the relationship is between Changes, Outages, Incident Management and Problem Management
 - What were key challenges of implementing this process at our institutions?
